AMPHALLANG

Estimated time of healing: 8 - 10 weeks

The amphallang probably originates from Borneo, from where this custom was spread to Suwalesi and Sumatra. In the Iban or Malaysian language, Phallang means "crossbar". This rod is placed horizontally through the head of the penis and usually also through the urethra.   To the male population on Borneo, a Phallang symbolised courage, status, vitality, and being fertile. Gradually, this became a custom among more than 20 tribes of the Southeastern Asia.

Furthermore, there were a number of variations, e.g., some tribes did sew bells, beads, or balls to the shaft of the penis. This is called Kandoekoe, Bungkal, or Kaling-Kaling. The balls at the end of the bar also serve to stimulate the quite sensitive areas in the vagina during intercourse - to the effect that the females of the Dyak tribe (Borneo) refused to have sex with males not equipped with a Phallang. The Dyak women said sex without a Phallang is like rice cooked without salt. Quite often, an Amphallang is stimulating for both the male and the female. Provided that the balls are firmly screwed to the rod, and the bar has the proper length, the risk of an injury to a condom or pessary (diaphragm) is quite low.

To secure the best result, it’s advisable to measure the relevant distance of the erected penis head, i.e., right in the middle between the top and the corona. This horizontal Piercing through the head of the penis is quite stable, and even more so - if it is also placed through the urethra. The healing is relative rapid. The urine also serves to clean this piercing from the inside.

In principle, such a bar should never be removed - even for a short period of time, unless complications do occur, or you do not want to keep it any longer. The pierced channel retracts quite rapidly, so that inserting the jewel again may be quite difficult or not possible any longer. Occasionally, the channel may be reopened sufficiently by introducing a pointed sprig and thereby guiding the jewel in its place again. If the bar is removed before complete healing has taken place, rapid healing will be the result leaving only a nearly invisible scar on the head of the penis.
